ALBUM TITLE: Elvis Presley ~ Tom Jones: Twenty Great Tracks - One Double Album*
*The item for sale here is Volume 1 only. Volume 2 includes Tom Jones’ material – none of Tom Jones songs are included here. I have changed the title in the main heading to better represent the contents of Volume 1 (the actual title can be seen above and in the photo of the front cover). NB. Volume 2 (The Tom Jones CD) is sold seperately in AAA Hughes store under the 60s Music category.
ADDITIONAL INFO: For Tom Jones comments on hanging out with Elvis see the listing for Volume Two (as outlined above). From Sleeve Notes: "The young Elvis Presley, Accompanied by Scott Moore on Guitar and bass player Bill Black toured across America between 1954 and early 1956. This class line up established Elvis as a nationwide sensation in the USA and recorded the earliest studio tracks he would release." Here are a selection of tracks from this period. From what I have seen online it would appear that the first six tracks were recorded by Alan Lomax at the Mississippi and Louisiana State Penitentiaries. The following six recordings by Dr. Harry Oster in 1959 at the Angola State prison in Louisiana are of slightly better quality. This is not written on the sleeve notes so it difficult to verify whether it is entirely correct. NB. The final image (which you have to scroll down to) was taken from a blog about this release which I can no longer find. I think it was an ad which appeared to build up interest in this promo (it is shown for refrence purposes and is NOT included for sale).
